The new concrete path to the raised beds at Welshmill has been completed with the help of Gracewell Healthcare at Rossetti House. Wheelchair users from Rossetti House grow flowers and vegetables in the raised beds and the path will allow them to access the site more easily.
“It’s good news and not just for Rossetti House residents,” said Frome Allotment Association Chair, Neil Cameron. “Those who visit the site with mobility scooters or with pushchairs will also benefit from the path. We like to make our allotments accessible to as many people as possible so they can enjoy growing on our peaceful site.”
Mindset Training has carried out the work on the path. The Frome based company offer training in engineering and construction for young people.
The funding for the raised beds, which are designed for less mobile gardeners, came from Frome Development CIC. Volunteers from Frome Allotment Association built the beds.
“We’re a community organisation.” said Neil. “We’re very fortunate to have the support of so many organisations within the town.”
