Sun Hats and Strawberries
Sixty year one children from Poplar and Hawthorne classes at St John’s School visited Frome Allotments site at Welshmill. At school they have been learning about what grows above ground and what grows below ground. The six-year olds were shown around the site by plot holders where they learned about the different fruit and vegetables, as well as sampling some ripe strawberries.
“We were impressed by how much they knew about the different produce,” said Neil Cameron, Frome Allotment Association Chair. “It was a most enjoyable visit. We like to share the allotments with schools. Vallis and St. Louis already have plots here and have produced some good crops this summer.”
