The opening of Frome Allotments during Coronavirus restrictions.
Frome Allotment Association : opening of Frome allotments during coronavirus restrictions
At the moment, ( 24/03/20) no specific government advice has been given with regard to the opening of allotments. Frome allotments sites will remain open, in the same way that parks remain open, for the purpose of daily exercise. This means one person going to the site and tending a plot, not groups of family or friends.
Plotholders must keep to the government guidelines regarding distancing from other people and the protection of the most vulnerable.
In order to reduce the risk of infection, the padlocks to the gates will be removed.
The sites are always busy at this time of year and with fine weather and people at home, there is a danger of sites getting crowded. At the larger sites – Muriel Jones or Welshmill- if there are more than four cars in the car park, then please go home and return at another time.
Only visit allotments to tend plot
No more than one person at a time to tend plot
No groups of family or friends
Observe government guidelines re social distancing
Walk to the site where possible
No more than four cars in car parks
If government guidance changes then we will review the situation.
Neil Cameron, Chair Frome Allotment Association.
